Originally from Canada, Marghie Evans is an expert in international rights clearance, having functioned as Head of Rights and Clearances for PolyGram and Universal Home Entertainment until 2001. During that time she licensed footage and music for productions such as “The Cream of Eric Clapton” and “The Who: 20 Years Maximum R’n’B”, and oversaw production on DVDs as diverse as Dire Straits “Sultans of Swing” to bonus features for the 25th Anniversary Edition of “An American Werewolf In London.”
“I am happy to bring my years of international music business experience to Nashville, especially to those independent artists, labels and publishers who control their intellectual property and don’t want to feel under-represented at a major label or publisher.” Evans was also a consultant on behalf of Universal to the MCPS (Mechanical Rights Protection Society) and BPI (British Phonographic Industry) in rights clearances in the area of new media.
Since moving to Nashville in 2001, Marghie has been an independent media consultant, and served as administrator for several independent publishers and songwriters, clearing music for film, TV and video projects, as well as licensing audio and audio-visual projects for independent record companies and artists. She brings her expertise in the area of rights clearance to Do Write Music, LLC.
